Selecting Suitable Six Sigma Projects:

Peter F Drucker explained that

‘Management is doing things right, and leadership is doing the right thing’

In this presentation Peter Hales will be discussing how the selection of Six Sigma Projects has a major impact on doing things right in an organisation. Just because you can solve a problem with Six Sigma doesn’t always mean that you should.

For many organisations the potential for improvement that Six Sigma can enable is clear to see, but they struggle to get significant benefits or struggle to sustain their Six Sigma activities. This presentation will discuss the main causes of the problems and provide a simple guide to help organisations sustain their Six Sigma activities.

Peter Hales gained his Six Sigma Black Belt from GE after working full time as a Black Belt and Six Sigma deployment leader in 1999. Since leaving Honda in 2004, Peter has been working as a management consultant assisting comapanies to get the most from their Lean and Six Sigma continuous improvement activities.

Minitab Version 16 Workshop 9th March 2012

Please join us for an exclusive opportunity to learn about the latest version of statistical software from Minitab. Richard Startin from Minitab will be conducting a workshop to demonstrate the features of Minitab version 16. This will enable you to utilise Minitab effectively which will impact significantly on projects. There will also be an opportunity to network at this event and breakfast will be provided.

New features include: an “Assistant” aspect of the software which allows users to be led through their analysis. Various display features have been updated in order to view the data more efficiently. There is also now an option to export to Microsoft Word and PowerPoint which will help users to share their information easily. Users will find all of the above features and many other updates extremely effective in improving performance.

This event will be held at Beechwood House, Newport, NP19 8AJ on 9th March 2012.

Official Launch – 7 September 2011

The Institute of Six Sigma Professionals held its official launch at the South Wales Chamber of Commerce Facilitated Business Breakfast on 7th September. The Institute sponsored the event, and encouraged the delegates to meet other businesses and discuss opportunities and ideas, following a brief talk.

Steve Anthony, the founder and director of the Institute, kept the delegates entertained with the use of Duplo to illustrate some of the basics of Six Sigma problem solving. He then gave a brief presentation on Six Sigma and the benefits of joining the ISSP.

The launch of the ISSP was a huge success as it gave the ISSP team a chance to meet business people in the South Wales area.

Thank you to everyone who attended our official launch!

DMAIC Software Coming Soon!

The ISSP Team are currently developing brand new software that is aligned with the DMAIC methodology. The software is designed to help users monitor and manage single or multiple projects. Features include:

Multiple project charters
Secure data storage
Tailoring job and resource descriptions
Printing out project reports

Projects can be categorised as “Ideas”, “Active” and “Archived”, allowing members to build up a history of completed projects and store ideas for future projects. Projects are prioritised based on a project selection criteria. The software is compatible with Microsoft Office and PDF files, allowing these to be attached to projects.

The software will be available to ISSP members in the coming weeks, please check back for updates. Alternatively, if you would like to be notified with updates please email info(@)isspro.co.uk putting DMAIC in the subject box.

ISSP Website Officially live

The Institute of Six Sigma Professionals has officially been launched and is open for members to join. The website is live from 5^th September 2011 and the resources and support all available for use.

The ISSP has been in development from April 2011 and the team are thrilled to have the website up and running. The Institute offers various features which aid and benefit Six Sigma skills and knowledge.

Features that can be found online include:

Event listings
Knowledge Centre containing resources and case studies for Six Sigma development
Job Area for Six Sigma specific vacancies.
A CPD Programme allowing members to monitor their own personal development within the field.
Advice and support on hand from the ISSP team.

The website is adding features over the next few months to support the accreditation process and communication within the network. If you have any suggestions on further features that would be beneficial to you and other members, then please contact your institute at info(@)isspro.co.uk

Launch Breakfast

To celebrate the launch of the Institute of Six Sigma Professionals we will be hosting a Facilitated Networking Breakfast via the South Wales Chamber of Commerce. Our director, Stephen Anthony, will be presenting a case study on the use of Six Sigma in the service sector, as well as outlining the benefits of membership with ISSP. New Membership Benefits

The Institute of Six Sigma Professionals is currently in talks with ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management), the UK’s largest provider of Leadership and Management qualifications. We are looking to link up with ILM in order to provide our members with the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification Level 5 and Level 7 in Leadership and Management.

We believe Professionals and Fellows of the ISSP, who meet the highest levels demanded by Six Sigma, have earned the equivalent of a Level 7 ILM programme and over the next few months we will be working with ILM to endorse our Six Sigma programme and standards.
